Identifying Vulnerabilities

Traffickers target individuals exhibiting signs of vulnerability, such as low self-esteem, emotional distress, or unmet needs. They often frequent locations like bus stations, shelters, or malls to find potential victims.

After selecting a target, traffickers work to gain their trust by forming bonds over shared interests or providing emotional support. They present themselves as caring individuals, learning about the victim’s life to later exploit this information.

Traffickers offer solutions to the victim’s needs, whether physical (like shelter or financial assistance) or emotional (such as affection and a sense of belonging). By meeting these needs, they create a dependency, positioning themselves as indispensable.

To maintain control, traffickers isolate victims from friends and family, making them reliant solely on the trafficker. This may involve discouraging relationships or physically moving the victim away from their support network.

Why Victims Don't Just Leave?

Victims of human trafficking often remain trapped due to a complex web of psychological manipulation, fear, and dependency. Traffickers employ tactics such as isolation from support networks, threats of harm, and emotional abuse to exert control. This coercion fosters a sense of helplessness, making escape feel impossible and leaving victims reliant on their captors for survival.

Every day, countless victims of human trafficking endure relentless sexual exploitation.

Human trafficking subjects countless victims to relentless sexual exploitation, resulting in daily, repeated assaults that devastate their physical and emotional well-being. This pervasive violation of human rights demands urgent and comprehensive action to protect the vulnerable and dismantle the systems that perpetuate such atrocities.
